Where can I find charts and maps? Where do I find information about the Corps' response to a flood or other disaster? When an emergency situation arises, information will be published on the Emergency Operations Center web page. Where do I find information about Environmental clean-up projects? You can find environmental project information on the P3MD Environmental web page. How do I find Lake or River levels and conditions? You can find lake levels and conditions on the Engineering Division Water Management website. Links to all the lake websites can be found on the Operations Division website. What information is available about Locks in the Louisville District? Information regarding locks and dams in our district can be found on the Locks and Dams website. Additional navigation information is also available. What information is available about Locks in the US? The Navigation Data Center has information about all Corps-owned and/or operated locks as well as statistics on traffic through the locks. How can I get information on specific dams? Information on dams in the United States can be accessed through the National Inventory of Dams website. The data can be viewed as text, downloaded, or mapped using a free downloadable Geographic Information System (GIS) interface. What is the National Inventory of Dams (NID)? The National Inventory of Dams (NID) is a Congressionally authorized dam safety and management tool, which documents dams in the U.S. and its territories. The NID was reauthorized in Section 215 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1996 (Public Law 104-303). The NID includes dams that are at least 25 feet high, or impound at least 50 acre-feet of water at maximum pool level (as defined in law). The NID is maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in cooperation with the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO), the states and territories, and dam owning Federal Agencies. For most regulatory questions, information is available on our Regulatory web page. You should contact the Regulatory Office of the District where the misuse is occurring. What are Wetlands? Wetlands are currently defined by the US Army Corps of Engineers as "those areas that are inundated or saturated by surface or ground water at a frequency and duration sufficient to support, and that under normal circumstances do support, a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted to life in saturated soil conditions". Where do I find the laws and regulations governing wetlands? The Corps utilizes the 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual. You can information about Louisville District Corps Projects on the Planning, Programs, and Project Management Division website. How can I find out about any Corps of Engineer's lake? What are the facilities available at my local recreation area? The Corps Lakes Gateway website contains information about each and every Corps' lake. What are the recreation areas in my state? Information about recreation areas in the Louisville District is contained in the Operations Division: Recreation website. To find information outside the Louisville District, use the Corps Lakes Gateway website. How do I reserve a camp site? The National Recreation Reservation Service is an on-line reservation service for Corps and other Campsites. Many, but not all the Corps recreation areas are listed there. |
