The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Writing Assessment is administered to all 5th, 8th, and 10th graders to measure the quality of student writing. Over the last three years, a high percentage of DoDEA students have scored in the Proficient and Distinguished performance levels. The 19952000 DoDEA Community Strategic Plan (CSP) stated that 75 percent of the students should reach or exceed the proficiency level by the year 2000. The 2001 spring test results show that DoDDS Pacific (Guam, Japan, Korea, and Okinawa) students in grades 5 and 10 consistently performed in the Proficient or Distinguished categories. |
