Purpose of the Patient Service Center: |
Walter Reed Army Medical Center opened its doors to a few patients in 1909, initiating its now nine-decade history of integrated care, teaching and research. Today, WRAMC outpatient treatment facilities serve thousands of patients in a single day. Patients come from the military community in Washington, D.C., and around the world. Admissions are often complex cases, served by Walter Reed's highly trained physicians nurses, and clinical support staff, and facilitated by the latest in sophisticated technology for diagnosis and treatment. |
|
Every aspect of the hospital's day-to-day operations have the patient's welfare and comfort in mind. The new Walter Reed Army Medical Center Patient Service Center is in keeping with this patient-oriented tradition. It brings together in one location the resources of four formerly separate patient support services: |
- Referral Coordination Service
- Schedule Management Service
- Health Benefits Advisers
- Managed Care Division
|
|
Mission of the Patient Service Center: |
The mission of the center is to provide one-stop assistance for military beneficiaries and staff on TRICARE and Managed Care issues, coordinating referrals from other military facilities, and managing provider schedules. |
- Referral Coordination Service facilitates specialty care referrals for patients who live outside the National Capital Area and assists them with travel arrangements to Walter Reed.
- Schedule Management Service provides guidance on appointing issues and provider schedules to WRAMC staff and coordinates with the managed care support contractor's appointments operation and the Office a the Lead Agent on appointing issues.
- Health Benefits Advisers are your points of contact for information on TRICARE and other health benefits programs. They explain health care options available to military beneficiaries.
- Managed Care Division provides informational materials on TRICARE, WRAMC, and the Walter Reed Health Care System; coordinates WRAMC's Specialized Treatment Services; and oversees TRICARE Prime enrollment at WRAMC.
