Semper Fred 5K Added to Weekend Events at Marine Corps Historic Half marathon 

Organizers of the Marine Corps Historic Half marathon (MCHH)announced today the addition of a new race, the Semper Fred 5K, to the line-up of weekend events.

The 3.1 mile race will begin shortly after the MCHH at 7:15 a.m. on May 17 in Fredericksburg, VA. Runners can expect a moderately flat course, beginning and ending at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center.

"I am excited to announce this new distance as part of events at the Marine Corps Historic Half," said Rick Nealis, Director. "Spectators of the MCHH, family members, friends and the local community are encouraged to register and join in the celebration of health and fitness."

Online registration begins at noon eastern on January 7 at www.marinecorpshistorichalf.com and is open to runners of all ages, however, strollers are prohibited. The $20 registration fee includes race materials, event shirt, hospitality, chip timing and more.

The Marine Corps Historic Half marathon will be held on May 17, 2009 in Fredericksburg, VA. Created by organizers of the Marine Corps Marathon, the MCHH follows a tradition of excellence and impeccable planning.
