Agreement between New Mexico and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

On March 28, 2006 HHS Assistant Secretary John O. Agwunobi and Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish signed a Planning Resolution detailing HHS' and New Mexico's shared and independent responsibilities for pandemic planning.


Federal Help for New Mexico Planning

New Mexico received $956,824 in phase one funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to use for pandemic planning activities. New Mexico received additional funds of $1,761,130 from the revised phase two of Health and Human Services’ local and state allocations. A supplemental $634,133 was awarded to help strengthen the state's capacity to respond to a pandemic influenza outbreak. These grants are based on a formula adjusted for population.
