Enlivening Court Literacy with Real-Life Experiences

Watch a video about the Open Doors to Federal Courts program.

These materials are ready for immediate classroom and courtroom experiences. They are designed to be the focus of a high school class visit to a local federal courthouse, however, they also can be used effectively in classrooms. The events have the following characteristics in common. They are:

  • Participatory, true-to-life courtroom simulations.
  • Hosted by federal judges with local attorneys.
  • Inclusive of all students as active jurors and lawyers.
  • Based on recent Supreme Court cases that have an impact on young people.

For more information, e-mail Rebecca Fanning, National Outreach Manager for the Federal Courts.
