Critical Incident Response Group

The Critical Incident Response Group facilitates the FBI’s response to, and the management of, crisis incidents. Personnel are on-call around the clock, ready to respond to assist FBI field divisions in pre-crisis planning and during a response to critical incidents and major investigations; to provide expertise in crisis management, negotiations, technical and tactical operations, behavioral assessment and aviation; to provide enterprise-wide situational awareness and maintain a platform for critical interface and the dissemination of strategic information.

The Strategic Information and Operations Center (SIOC) is staffed with FBI Supervisory Special Agents and Emergency Actions Specialists. Emergency Action Specialists in SIOC are responsible for converging and synthesizing strategic information concerning a wide range of domestic and international crises. They maintain the SIOC in a high state of operational readiness as the focal point for the collection and dissemination of intelligence information relating to incidents that require coordination with other FBIHQ entities and other Agencies. They implement plans, policies, procedures and methods to ensure timely and accurate notification and mobilization actions in emergency situations under all conditions of peacetime and wartime emergencies.

We are looking for knowledge and skill in the application of crisis response techniques and procedures; skill in analysis and synthesis of information; knowledge of current military, cultural and/or geographic and other socio-economic conditions around the world in order to relate significance of such events to various areas of interest to the FBI.
