Podcasting the American West

Dream of the Pacific

Scene from the Washington National Opera's Dream of the Pacific, performed in our McEvoy Auditorium last summer. Photo by Karin Cooper for the Washington National Opera.

We've just launched our third podcast. This one is about art and the American West.

Travel back with us to those earlier days of the American West in the foot steps of Lewis and Clark. Last summer the Washington National Opera performed Dream of the Pacific, an opera about the Lewis and Clark trek, in our McEvoy Auditorium. Hear from our curators about the doctor who kept members of that expedition healthy and about George Catlin who followed their trail, painting and writing about Native American tribes.

For a look at Catlin's paintings, visit the gallery section of our Campfire Stories with George Catlin.
