Project and Contents Description
This site provides full text access to the Monthly Weather Review (MWR) when published by the U.S. government. MWR began in October 1872 as a U.S. government publication by the Office of the Chief Signal Officer and continued as a government publication under various organizational changes until 1973. Beginning in 1974 the American Meteorological Society (AMS) assumed responsibility for publishing the Review to the present. Also available full text is the Monthly Weather Review Supplements—an irregular series of 44 documents from 1914 to 1949.
For many years the MWR was the premier publication for research related to analysis and prediction of observed and modeled circulations of the atmosphere, including technique development, data assimilation, model validation, and relevant case studies. This includes papers on numerical techniques and data assimilation techniques that apply to the atmosphere and/or ocean environment.
