Administration for Children and Families Awards More than $5 Million to
Hawaii and Native Pacific Basin Communities

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) today announced the award of up to $5.3 million in grants to seven Native organizations in Hawaii, American Samoa, and Guam for social and economic development strategies and healthy marriage.

The grant awards were announced today by Quanah Crossland Stamps, Commissioner of the Administration for Native Americans (ANA) in Hawaii after visiting eight ANA projects in Ohau, Molokai, Maui and Guam to view first-hand ongoing project activities and meet with community leaders.

“These grant awards support the Bush Administration’s goal of community self-sufficiency for Native communities throughout the Pacific region,” Commissioner Stamps said.  “Our commitment to providing project support at the community level will make a positive impact on the lives of Native children, youth and families.”

Currently, ANA has 11 grant projects in the Pacific Basin totaling $8.7 million for social and economic development strategies and healthy marriage.  Today’s $5.3 million award announcement brings the total ANA funding amount for Pacific projects to $14 million.
