Instruction is key to student achievement Instruction

Classroom instruction is one of the essential elements necessary to meet our mission of providing an exemplary education that inspires and prepares all DoDEA students for success in a dynamic global environment as it includes the methods and strategies used to teach the curriculum.

We are dedicated to supporting all students in their achievement of the DoDEA academic standards.  DDESS students are taught in ways that respond to their needs.  Teachers prepare lessons that are standards-based and are developmentally appropriate.  The following are indicators of quality instruction:

  • Teaching practices reflect high expectations for student achievement of the standards.
  • Students are meaningfully engaged throughout the learning process.
  • Students have multiple and varied opportunities to meet/exceed the standards.
  • Varied questioning strategies are used to support student learning.
  • Varied and flexible groupings are used to assist students in achieving/exceeding the standards.
  • Varied teaching strategies are used to support inquiry, higher order thinking, and problem solving.
  • Technology is meaningfully integrated throughout instruction to support student achievement of the standards.
