  Agreements between the County of Los Angeles, the State of California, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

On March 30, 2006 HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky signed Planning Resolutions detailing HHS', California's, and Los Angeles County's shared and independent responsibilities for pandemic planning.


Federal Help for California Planning

California received $6,723,207 and Los Angeles received $2,900,529 in phase one funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to use for pandemic planning activities. California received additional funds of $17,632,167 and Los Angeles County received $6,997,627 from the revised phase two of Health and Human Services’ local and state allocations. A supplemental $5,482,954 for California and a supplemental $2,268,550 for Los Angeles County were awarded to help strengthen the state's and the county's capacities to respond to a pandemic influenza outbreak. These grants are based on a formula adjusted for population.
