Mississippi Coastal Improvements Progam

NOTICE: Public Workshop and Hearing April 5, 2007 - Gulfport, Miss.

A multi-objective, comprehensive technical evaluation is being conducted in close coordination and consultation with the State of Mississippi, Federal agencies, and stakeholders to determine the nature and level of hurricane protection and environmental restoration for coastal Mississippi. The water resources mission areas of hurricane protection, flood control, interior drainage, navigation, and ecosystem restoration, must be integrated synergistically during plan formulation and evaluation to identify preliminary plans and designs that would provide increased hurricane protection for the Mississippi Gulf Coast, as well as avoid and minimize unintended consequences of taking such actions.
