Expeditionary Workforce |
December 4, 2008 My time in Afghanistan has been very good. I am working with good and caring people that are helping the Afghanistan people improve their way of life. I am involved in quality assurance of electrical construction. There is a definite need for people to assist them in this area and I am glad to have this opportunity. Thanksgiving day in Afghanistan was made enjoyable by the many friends I have made in the 3 months I have been here. In all deployments, everyone meets new and wonderful people they will never forget. We have all come together to form a new "family" while we are here. I will also be spending Christmas away from family but I am thankful for the people that surround me now.
I have attached some pictures of children that are in one of the areas I have visited. There is now snow in the mountains and it is getting cold. I have tried to order kids gloves and kids knit hats on-line, but am having trouble getting these things shipped to an APO address. If the wonderful people in Tulsa District would like to help out please let me know. I was trying to provide for about 300 children. I am working with Karen Vance from Tulsa District. I had not met her before this deployment. She is a very nice person and it helps to have someone close from "home."
Keep all of us in your thoughts and prayers.
