Summary: House Appropriations Subcommittee Holds Hearing on NIH Oversight

On October 9, 2002, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, and Education (Ralph Regula [R-OH], Chairman) held a hearing on oversight of NIH. Elias Zerhouni, Director of NIH, testified on 1) his plans for managing NIH, 2) how NIH has spent funding received through the doubling efforts, 3) the results NIH can document from the spending, and 4) how NIH is planning for the "post-doubling" era.
