S. 2217—The Closing the Health Care Gap Act of 2004

On March 12, 2004, Senator Bill Frist (R-TN) introduced S. 2217, a bill to improve the health of health disparity populations. Among its provisions, S. 2217 would require the NIH Director, in consultation with the NCMHD Director, to expand and intensify NIH research relating to the sources of health and health care disparities, and increase efforts to recruit minority scientists and research professionals into the field of health disparity research. S. 2217, which has no cosponsors, was referred to the Senate Committee on Finance.
