Review of Distinguished Service Cross Awards

The Federal Research Division (FRD) — under an interagency agreement with the U.S. Army Human Resources Command (AHRC) — conducted research over a period of three years in support of a review of Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) award cases for a possible upgrade to the Medal of Honor. This research was conducted pursuant to a congressional mandate to review the service records of veterans of Jewish American and Hispanic American descent who were awarded the DSC for action between December 7, 1941, and December 12, 2001. The research was completed at the end of 2005. FRD’s research findings, as well as case evidence submitted to FRD by veterans and their families and fellow soldiers, were forwarded to the AHRC Military Awards Branch in preparation for review by the Senior Awards and Decorations Board.

As of June 2006, FRD is no longer accepting case evidence in support of the DSC award review.

the Philippine Islands.
