The Tribal Child Care Technical Assistance Center (TriTAC) was established by the Child Care Bureau (CCB) in 1998 to strengthen child care services for Native American children and families. Through specialized training and technical assistance efforts, TriTAC assists Indian Tribes and tribal organizations in their efforts to enhance the quality, affordability, and availability of child care. TriTAC also supports tribal communities in their efforts to coordinate early childhood delivery systems by promoting linkages between State, tribal and local early childhood education programs. TriTAC is operated through a contract with Native American Management Services, Inc. (NAMS), a Native American company, in Reston, Virginia.

TriTAC assists tribal Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) grantees in child care capacity-building efforts through activities such as:

  • Coordination of the annual American Indian and Alaska Native Child Care Conference and Administrators Training
  • Operation of a free information and referral service
  • Partnerships with the Child Care Bureau’s Child Care Technical Assistance Network and other agencies
  • Coordination of on-site training and technical assistance activities
  • Maintenance of the TriTAC website, which includes information such as:
    • Calendar of events
    • Contact information for tribal CCDF grantees
    • Tribal resource documents, including TriTAC publications
    • CCDF materials
    • Profiles of effective program and partnership strategies
    • Answers to frequently asked questions
    • Minimum tribal child care standards
    • Links to tribal, child care, & related Internet sites

Linda Kills Crow (Delaware) serves as the TriTAC Director. Ms. Kills Crow brings over 20 years of experience in the fields of Indian education and early childhood programs, including the Child Care and Development Fund and Head Start. Her office is located in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Missy Dunne is the on-site Co-Project Manager at the Reston, Virginia office. Co-Project Manager Nina Stanton works from her office in Louisville, Kentucky.
