Michael O. Leavitt Secretary , U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) touches the lives of families in need. By fostering partnerships with individuals, communities, faith-based organizations and other service providers, ACF works day in and day out to find solutions to the problems that affect children and families around the country.

The Directory of Program Services is an effort to summarize all of the initiatives, programs and opportunities available to Americans requiring temporary assistance to help them achieve self-sufficiency and improve their well-being.

Through compassionate outreach, President George W. Bush has made a difference in the well-being of so many of our fellow citizens. On behalf of the Administration, I am pleased to offer you this guide that lists services aimed at improving the lives of children, families and communities across America.
