Requirements

Students are required:

• to attend a qualified, degree-granting university
• to take a series of required courses while enrolled in the program
• to complete all courses using a combination of locally available and distance learning classes that meet all of the program requirements.

Six universities are currently participating in the program: Johns Hopkins University, Southern Illinois University, the University of Florida, the University of Arizona and Harvard University. As the program grows, it is anticipated that additional universities will be added in the future.

The participating universities have, at a minimum, accredited Master's programs in water resources studies and/or planning. They ensure that the content requirements that were originally agreed upon by the Corps and UCOWR are met. Each institution has their own set of guidelines for accepting transfer credits from other accredited universities.

Each school is required to provide an advisor to work with the students to develop a customized academic program. The Corps provides funding for its students to cover tuition and other related course expenses. For those students opting for the on-campus residency option, a portion of travel, per diem, and labor costs will be covered by the Corps. Make sure to fully discuss those details with your supervisor. The Corps also extends support, encouragement, and guidance to employees enrolled in the program.
