Continuous School Improvement

DDESS schools are committed to being better today than they were yesterday. This commitment is demonstrated by the implementation of quality improvement processes that yield results for students.

Continuous School Improvement is an ongoing process that helps schools focus their efforts in support of their mission and goals.  Student performance and school/community data is analyzed and used to develop plans to ensure all students are learning and progressing toward achievement of academic standards.

School improvement is:

DDESS School Improvement Cycle

Although school improvement is a continuous cycle, our process consists of 8 basic phases:

  1. Making or Renewing the Commitment - Explaining the process to all stakeholders, establishing support, getting new stakeholders involved in the process.
  2. Getting Started - Selecting committee members, discussing roles and responsibilities, establishing general timelines for the improvement cycle.
  3. Collecting and Analyzing Data
  4. Developing the Mission and Selecting Appropriate Goals
  5. Developing the School Improvement Plan (SIP)
  6. Implementing the School Improvement Plan
  7. Monitoring the SIP Implementation and Documenting Student Success
  8. Continuing the Process

Continuous school improvement of curriculum, instruction, environment, and assessment are essential to student achievement in a standards-based system
