About DDESS/DoDDS-Cuba

The U.S. Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS)/Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS)-Cuba is one of three Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Area Service Centers.

The three areas provide guidance and assistance to their districts in support of our unified mission to provide an exemplary education that inspires and prepares all students for success in a dynamic, global environment and the goals outlined in the Community Strategic Plan.

DDESS operates 64 schools on 17 installations, organized into 5 districts with a total of just over 2,300 education professionals serving about 25,000 students. The DDESS/DoDDS-Cuba Director, Dr. Elaine Beraza, manages the DDESS Area Service Center (ASC), located in Peachtree City, GA, and supervises the 5 District Superintendents, overseeing district operations.

Note:  DoDEA is a Department of Defense field activity operating under the direction, authority, and control of the Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness and the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy.
