Argonne National Laboratory has recieved many awards for innovative technologies developed both at the lab and in association with industry partners.

R&D 100 Awards

Each year, R&D Magazine recognizes the 100 most technologically significant new products of the last year with awards. The competition has two purposes: to recognize innovators and organizations for outstanding practical technical developments, and to identify industrially significant technological advances. In 2008 Argonne was the recipient of two R&D 100 awards.

Energy 100 Awards

In its Energy 100 Awards, the Department of Energy (DOE) has honored 100 of its best scientific and technological accomplishments developed between 1977 and 2000.

Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC)/Midwest FLC Awards

Each year the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC), which comprises more than 600 federal laboratories and centers, recognizes federal laboratory employees who have done outstanding work in the process of transferring laboratory-developed technology.

Green Chemistry Challenge Awards

The Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Awards Program is an opportunity for individuals, groups, and organizations to compete for annual awards in recognition of innovations in cleaner, cheaper, smarter chemistry.

The Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Awards Program invites nominations that describe the technical benefits of a green chemistry technology as well as human health and environmental benefits. The Awards Program is open to all individuals, groups, and organizations, both nonprofit and for profit, including academia, government, and industry. The nominated green chemistry technology must have reached a significant milestone within the past five years in the United States (e.g., been researched, demonstrated, implemented, applied, patented, etc.).

Typically five awards are given annually to industry and government sponsors, an academic investigator, and a small business.
