How can providers work with Head Start or school-based preschool programs?
  Question
How can providers work with Head Start or school-based preschool programs?
  Answer
Partnerships among child care, Head Start, and other early education programs can offer excellent opportunities to provide full-day, full-year child care to families, make comprehensive services more widely available, and improve the continuity of services and the quality of programs by making optimal use of available resources. Collaboration can also produce a system that provides a higher quality of services to all children. To explore partnership opportunities, contact your local Head Start program. The Head Start Locator provides a searchable database of Head Start programs, and is available on the Web at http://eclkc.ohs.acf.hhs.gov/hslc/HeadStartOffices.

To explore partnerships with your local school-based preschool programs, contact your local school district. Information about prekindergarten initiatives at the State level is in the State of Preschool 2006: State Preschool Yearbook, published by the National Institute for Early Education Research. This resource is available on the Web at http://nieer.org/yearbook/pdf/yearbook.pdf.
