UJNR-SSI Workshop - Menlo Park, California - September 22-23, 1998


Recently, twenty-eight earthquake engineers and scientists (Photo) from the United States and Japan participated in the U.S.-Japan Cooperative Program in Natural Resources (UJNR) Workshop on Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI) in Menlo Park, California (Sept. 22-23, 1998). The workshop was funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Geological Survey, as well as several Japanese organizations, and was organized by Dr. Mehmet Celebi of the USGS and Dr. Izuru Okawa of the Building Research Institute of the Ministry of Construction of Japan. The workshop was very successful and many important recommendations were made. During the workshop, 28 technical papers were presented. A Pre-Proceedings volume (Cover Page) was published.
