The documents and references listed in this section have been created and compiled to assist practitioners, students and others interested in digital imaging, both as a discipline as well as a component of digital conversion projects. Digital imaging encompasses a multitude of fields ranging from color science and visual perception to photonics and the engineering of digital sensors. Digital imaging as a component of conversion projects includes areas such as quality assurance and metrology, character recognition and encoding, and metadata management. As the Digitization Guidelines Initiative matures, the breadth and variety of resources on this site will continue to expand.
While no hard cutoff date was used in selecting guidelines, standards and other documents, they have been reviewed for current relevance. Because referenced documents may change, please refer to the online version of documents rather than print copies, particularly with regard to standards.
We welcome comments and suggestions related to listed resources.
