Oklahoma City, OK -- State and federal disaster recovery officials will open a Disaster Recovery Center in Edmond on Friday and Saturday (December 15 - 16) to serve homeowners, renters and business owners in Oklahoma County who were affected by the storms and flooding from Oct. 21st to the 29th.

The Edmond center will be at the Downtown Community Center, 28 E. Main St. The center will be open both Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Residents with storm or flooding damage to their home, personal belongings or business property are urged to apply for assistance by calling 800 462-9029. The hearing or speech impaired may call TTY 800-462-7585. Both numbers are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The application process only takes 20 to 30 minutes.

"Applying by phone is a quick and efficient way to help those who had damages," said Fred Liebe, state coordinating officer. "We will share that information with other state and federal agencies, as well as volunteer organizations, to get them the help they need."

After calling the toll-free application number, disaster victims may visit the center to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists. Information on a variety of local, state and federal disaster programs will be available.

"The center can provide information on disaster housing assistance and low-interest loans for renters and homeowners, as well as business owners, from the U.S. Small Business Administration," said Joe D. Bray, federal coordinating officer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
