WACO, Texas -- Five days remain to register for assistance for Texans affected by Tropical Storm Erin during the period of August 14-20, 2007.  Recovery officials urge homeowners, renters, business owners, and private non-profits who sustained losses to register for assistance now, if they have not already done so.

The deadline for registering for aid under President Bush's disaster declaration is Monday, December 3, according to the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Governor's Division of Emergency Management (GDEM).  Don't delay. Register by logging onto www.fema.gov or by calling toll free 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired, Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 6 pm.

"Don't delay. If you have not yet contacted FEMA to report disaster-related damages that occurred during August 14 through August 20, make sure you do so by December 3," Federal Coordinating Officer Ken Clark said.

"You should register before the deadline to ensure your eligibility for disaster assistance," State Coordinating Officer Joan Haun said. "If your insurance settlement is pending, you may still have unmet needs that may be eligible under federal disaster assistance programs."
