FEMA Anuncia Los Miembros Del Consejo Asesor Nacional

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- El Administrador de la Agencia Federal para el Manejo de Emergencias (FEMA, por sus siglas en inglés), David Paulison anunció hoy los miembros del Consejo Asesor Nacional.
El consejo proveerá asesoramiento al Administrador de FEMA en todos los aspectos relacionados a la preparación y el manejo de emergencias en un esfuerzo por asegurar la coordinación con sus asociados a través de toda la nación.
"Estos expertos en la disciplina de la preparación ante emergencias y respuesta traerá nuevas y únicas perspectivas al Departamento", dijo el Secretario de Seguridad Nacional, Michael Chertoff. "Le damos la más cordial bienvenida y contamos con sus valiosas contribuciones e innovadoras ideas en el manejo de emergencias".
"Los hombres y mujeres nominados para servir en el Consejo Asesor Nacional son reconocidos expertos en las disciplinas del manejo de emergencias", dijo el Administrado Paulison. "Su extenso conocimiento y diversos puntos de vista serán de gran valor cuando nos asesoren en cómo mejor responder a los desastres naturales y provocados por el hombre".
El desarrollo del Consejo Asesor Nacional se comenzó mediante la instrucción del Acta Post-Katrina para la Reforma en el Manejo de Emergencias de 2006. Sus miembros son nombrados por el Administrador de FEMA y representan geográficamente a todos los oficiales en los sectores del manejo de emergencias y cumplimiento de la Ley que incluye directores de seguridad nacional, generales militares, proveedores de respuesta ante emergencias de los gobiernos locales, estatales y tribales, el sector privado y organizaciones no gubernamentales.
El Consejo ha sido instituido para asegurar la coordinación continua y efectiva de la preparación federal, protección, respuesta, recuperación y mitigación, actos de terrorismo y otros desastres provocados por el hombre. Específicamente, el Consejo enfocará su atención en el desarrollo y revisión de los objetivos de preparación nacional, el sistema de preparación, el Sistema Nacional para el Manejo de Incidentes, el Plan Nacional de Respuesta y; otros planes y estrategias.
El Consejo convocará reuniones trimestrales cada año. Sujeto a la aprobación final de los formularios para desplegar cierta información de los nominados, la primera reunión tomará lugar este otoño.
