Volcanic Activity Notifications
Short written notices of volcanic activity are released in a few different forms, which are listed below.

NOTE: Activity reported here is that which is likely to pose significant hazard to aircraft or local populations. This is not a catalogue of all volcanic phenomena that come to our attention.

Alaska:
Weekly Update (current issue and archives): Weekly report, issued on Fridays. This page contains the current weekly update that AVO distributes to numerous concerned agencies and institutions. In all cases we report on those volcanoes for which we have continuous, real-time, seismic monitoring. When activity at other volcanoes comes to our attention through pilot reports, satellite images, etc. we include that as well.
Information Release (current issue and archives): Periodic report. Provides information about a significant change at a particular volcano. This page contains the current information release that AVO distributes to numerous concerned agencies and institutions.
Status Report (current issue and archives): Daily report. Provides the status of all Alaska volcanoes with elevated color codes whether there have been significant changes or not. These status reports are to augment our Information Releases and Weekly Updates, not replace them. Volcanic activity tends not to remain constant between Information Releases. There can be quite a bit of change in activity day-to-day that does not rise to the level that justifies a new Information Release. The Current Status Reports will fill the void between Information Releases with daily reports of activity and any new observations. Information Releases will continue to provide information regarding major changes in activity, new observations, and of course, color code changes.

The Current Status Reports will be issued each day around 4 PM Alaska local time. If no Alaskan volcanoes are in an elevated level-of-concern, no reports will be issued.

Kamchatka:
Information Release (current issue and archives): Report issued on Fridays, and more frequently if activity warrants. Report is from KVERT (Kamchatkan Volcanic Eruption Response Team).
