National Incident Management System Incident Resource Inventory System (NIMS-IRIS) Update Release – Version 2.0 The Incident Management Systems Division releases an Update of the National Incident Management System Incident Resource Inventory System (NIMS-IRIS Version 2.0) to enhance the tools capabilities by adding a Data Sharing feature. As part of our Nation’s efforts to strengthen resource management in line with the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Incident Management Systems Division released a beta version (Version 1.0) of the NIMS Incident Resource Inventory System (NIMS-IRIS) tool to the emergency response community in June 2007. The beta release provided emergency responders with a database management tool to enter a community’s resources into a common database (120 typed and others). An update to the beta release (Version 1.1) was posted on August 3, 2007 to address improvements to data aggregation, which allows users to share data between jurisdictions. This release (Version 2.0) enhances the data aggregation capability and incorporates input confirmation for user defined resources. The release also includes new functionality for accessing a locked account and many general system usability improvements. If you have previously installed NIMS-IRIS Version 1.0 or 1.1 you should update the program. The update download can be found at http://www.fema.gov/emergency/nims/rm/iris.shtm. If you do not have NIMS-IRIS Version 2.0, you can download the updated application from the URL above. The update is already incorporated in this download. Technical support requests for assistance and requests for a hardcopy CD of NIMS-IRIS Version 2.0 can be made to IRIS@NIMSSC.net. Periodic follow-on releases to NIMS-IRIS are scheduled for FY2008. Feedback regarding the tool is welcomed and can be submitted to NIMSSC@eku.edu or IRIS@NIMSSC.net. This feedback will assist the Incident Management Systems Division with maintenance and tool improvements.
