Disaster Recovery Centers to Close in Baxter, Randolph Counties

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will close Wednesday, April 30 at noon in Baxter and Randolph counties, state and federal recovery officials announced today.

The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the SBA opened the DRCs to provide assistance and disaster information to individuals and business owners who suffered damage from recent severe storms, tornadoes and flooding.

The Baxter County DRC, located at the Norfork River Resort, Conference Room, 13386 Hwy. 5 South, Norfork, AR  72658, has assisted 129 residents since opening April 8. The Randolph County DRC located at the Pocahontas Community Center, 205 Geneva Dr., Pocahontas, AR  72455, has assisted 119 residents since opening April 10. Applicants can continue to reach federal recovery experts by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired. Both lines are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Or you can register online at www.fema.gov.

Residents in the disaster-declared counties of Arkansas can visit any DRC to register for assistance, learn about available programs and get answers to their questions.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
