CLINTON, Miss. -- Additional operators are available at Mississippi Maintenance Call Center in Jackson, Miss. to assist families currently living in FEMA-provided temporary housing as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

"We know we need to pay special attention to those families still recovering from Katrina," said Alec Watson, director of the FEMA Mississippi Transitional Recovery Office. "We're prepared to handle additional calls and address their issues."

The call center typically receives between 1,500 and 1,800 calls per week. A recently installed high-speed phone line at the center will allow for increased call volume. Call center officials estimate these additions will help operators field between 250 and 275 calls per hour, which is within the expected volume.

Mississippi residents who registered with FEMA after Katrina in 2005 and have repair issues or have sustained serious damage to their FEMA travel trailer or mobile home should call the Mississippi Maintenance Call Center at 866-877-6075. Operators are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Mississippi Call Center will address only Hurricane Katrina applicants.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
