CLINTON, Miss. -- Hinds County residents and business owners who suffered losses or damages as a result of the April 4 severe storms and tornadoes can meet face-to-face with disaster recovery specialists at the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located in the Willie Morris Library, 4912 Old Canton Road in Jackson, to follow up on their registrations.

Storm victims are urged to register for assistance first by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The TTY number is 1-800-462-7585 for those who are speech- or hearing-impaired.

The DRC will be open Mondays through Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and closed Sundays, until further notice.

Representatives of state, federal, and voluntary agencies, as well as loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), will be on hand to answer questions and provide recovery information. Written materials about various assistance programs are also available to individuals and business owners.

Once registered, FEMA recovery specialists can check an individual's case, answer questions about their claim, or request information FEMA needs to continue processing their claim. Recovery specialists can also supply contacts for other programs that may be able to help.

The SBA offers low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private non-profit organizations. These loans are to repair or replace homes, personal property and to assist businesses damaged by the tornadoes.

SBA representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the SBA disaster loan program; help applicants complete their disaster loan application and accept the completed application.  Anyone not able to go to a DRC should call the SBA Customer Service Center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday, at 1-800-659-2955 for information and assistance or visit the SBA website at www.sba.gov or by emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
