FEMA-State Disaster Outreach Extends To Bartow, Burke, Jefferson, Dekalb, Polk And Floyd Counties

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Additional FEMA-state Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are open in Bartow, Burke, Jefferson and Polk counties, to assist individuals, households and businesses affected by the March 14-16 severe storms and tornadoes, recovery officials have announced.
The DRCs will operate Mondays through Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and will be closed Sundays. They will be located at:

The Polk County DRC is also serving Floyd County individuals with damage-related needs. DRCs opened earlier this week at the John Lewis Arena, Morris Brown College Campus, 570 Mitchell St., Atlanta, GA 30314, to serve Fulton and DeKalb county residents, and Mt. Moriah Camp Ground, 2665 Mount Moriah Road, Matthews, GA 30818, for Jefferson County residents affected by the severe storms and tornadoes.
The DRCs are staffed with voluntary agencies, local, state, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and customer service representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) who are ready to help survivors through the process of applying for disaster-related assistance.
Applicants should register by calling FEMA toll-free 800-621-3362 (FEMA). Those with a speech or hearing impairment may call TTY 800-462-7585 and apply. Multilingual operators are available to speak to applicants. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, until further notice. Application for disaster assistance can also be made by registering online at www.fema.gov., or at one of the Disaster Recovery Centers.
Once registered, FEMA disaster recovery specialists can check an individual's case, answer questions about their claim, or request information FEMA needs to process their claim. Recovery specialists can also supply contacts for other programs that may be able to help. Those affected who live in declared counties can visit any DRC.
The SBA offers low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private non-profit organizations. These loans are to repair or replace real estate and/or personal property damaged by the severe storms and tornadoes.
SBA representatives will be on hand at the DRCs to meet with individuals and business owners to answer any questions about SBA's disaster loan program; help them complete their SBA disaster loan application and accept the completed disaster loan applications. Anyone not able to go to a DRC should call the SBA Customer Service Center from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday, at 800-659-2955 for information and assistance or visit the SBA website at www.sba.gov.
