FEMA Helping Hands Workshop February 26 in Bay St. Louis

BILOXI, Miss. -- Voluntary Agency Liaisons (VAL) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct a Helping Hands Workshop from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Feb. 26 at the Christ Episcopal Church, 912 South Beach Blvd., in Bay St. Louis.

VAL has hosted 12 Helping Hands Workshops across the lower six counties, targeting families in FEMA temporary housing. Organizers estimate more than 600 applicants have attended the events.

"These workshops are a key part of our expedited relocation process. With the help participating organizations, we're making various resources available to families to assist in their transition from temporary housing to self-sufficiency and a sustainable future," said Sid Melton, director of the FEMA Mississippi Transitional Recovery Office.

VAL and FEMA Individual Assistance teams will distribute fliers to approximately 500 occupants of commercial and FEMA group parks throughout Hancock County with more details about the workshop.
