INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- FEMA's Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC) in Spencer is closing Wednesday, July 9. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) on Thursday, July 10, at the same location: Spencer Elementary School, 151 Hillside Avenue, Spencer, IN, 47460. The Spencer DLOC will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until further notice.

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and SBA opened the MDRCs to provide face-to-face assistance and disaster information to individuals and business owners who suffered damage from the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred during the period of May 30 and continuing.

The Spencer MDRC has assisted 421 Owen County residents in the fourteen day period that it was located in Spencer.  Applicants can continue to reach federal recovery experts online at www.fema.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired. Both lines are operational 24 hours daily until further notice.

SBA representatives will continue to provide Owen County homeowners, renters and business owners with personal assistance in completing their loan applications, answering questions about the SBA's loan program and explaining how an SBA loan can help pay for their disaster losses.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
