About the Family Therapy Training Institute of Miami
Welcome to our Online Resource Center! The Family Therapy Training Institute of Miami (FTTIM) provides training leading to certification in the nationally-validated, award winning family therapy model known as Brief Strategic Family Therapy© (BSFT). This model has received numerous government and private awards and recognition, and is notable as one of the only evidence-based models for diverse populations, including language-minorities.
FTTIM also provides training in Family Effectiveness Training© (FET), also an award winning model program, which is a psychoeducationally-based adaptation of BSFT to be utilized with younger, prevention/early intervention target populations.
The Founder of the FTTIM is Olga E. Hervis, MSW, LCSW. She is the co-author and co-developer of both BSFT and FET. Hervis also developed and directed the BSFT and FET Training Programs of the University of Miami Center for Family Studies until September of 2003 when she founded the FTTIM. She has been teaching, supervising and consulting on the model since its inception 30 years ago.
