Under Secretary Mancuso meets with major technology companies in Silicon Valley

Under Secretary Mario Mancuso visited San Jose, CA from October 17-19 to meet with senior executives from a number of leading Silicon Valley high-tech companies, such as Cisco Systems, Intel, Applied Materials, JSR Micro, and Google. Mancuso also addressed a joint gathering of Semiconductor Equipment Materials International, the Semiconductor Industry Association, and the American Electronics Association.

In addition to holding industry outreach events on high technology trade and export control issues, Under Secretary Mancuso discussed the announcement of the initial group of Validated End-Users in China, which will facilitate U.S. exports to China by removing license requirements on shipments of certain U.S.-controlled items to those end-users. In 2006, these five companies imported approximately $54.3 million dollars worth of U.S.-goods under licenses, representing 18 percent of total licensed exports to China.
