Spokesman McCormack (Jan. 6): "I think they’re part of the interested international actors. As you point out, they have a lot of connections throughout the region and some of which are unique in their aspect of their having contacts with Syria and Hamas, as well as with Israel. So certainly we hope that we can engage them in trying to bring about a ceasefire. I know that they have their own proposals. I’m sure the Secretary will want to hear what the foreign minister has to say, and I’m sure that she will also, from her part, try to convey to him where we are in our efforts and seek to gain their support in our efforts."
