In 2007, the Office of Attorney General Lisa Madigan:
- Received 32,577 consumer complaints;
- Collected $841,873,553.23 on behalf of the State of Illinois ;
- Handled over 2,000 cases ensuring that consumers have adequate health care coverage;
- Assisted in the prosecution of more than 234 criminal cases;
- Regulated the more than 28,000 charities that operate in Illinois;
- Analyzed and recommended that approximately 4,804 compensation claims be awarded to victims of violent crimes and their families, hospitals and medical providers, funeral homes, counselors, and other identified service providers;
- Handled more than 120 environmental protection cases;
- Represented state government in over 23,000 cases; and
- Received more than 16,000 case referrals from state government agencies and constitutional officers.
