Attorney General's Office by Division

Mission Statement

To protect and advance the interests of the state and its citizens through the judicial and legislative process and to serve as the People's lawyer, fighting for openness and justice, especially for those who have no voice.

The Attorney General's Office

The Office of the Missouri Attorney General directs all litigation to which the state, any agency or official is a party and represents the state's legal position at every level of trial and appellate courts. The office is considered the state's premier law firm.

Former alumni include numerous lawyers who have distinguished themselves at all levels of government and private practice. They include former and sitting U.S. senators and representatives, former Missouri governors, U.S. and Missouri supreme court justices, and numerous other federal and state judges.

Internal Structure of the Attorney General's Office

The Attorney General's Office is organized into eight divisions:
