Administration for Native Americans

Emergency Preparedness

In the event of an emergency, ANA has developed a plan that will enable the agency to provide vital services, exercise its authority, maintain the safety and well-being of its staff and grantees, and sustain the economy.

In an emergency, ANA will have the capability, through enhanced Information Technology (IT), to meet its statutory requirements, assuming that its federal and contract staff would be located away from their official work stations. ANA staff will have remote access to its web-based projects/grants management system and will be able to contact grantees and access grant files.

ANA has four regional contracts that provide Training and Technical Assistance (T/TA) to its grantees. These contractors who span the continental United States (including Alaska), Hawaii and the Pacific Islands will disseminate information on the business operations of ANA and any special announcements or updates directly to ANA grantees.

ANA is a Federal government agency that is part of the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The ACF homepage http://www.acf.hhs.gov/ will have important information for grantees, in the case of an emergency, on the availability of accessing draw-down funds.

ANA encourages grantees to access the following resource links to develop emergency preparedness plans for their communities. There are many varieties of disasters. These website links demonstrate how to plan in advance and receive assistance if needed.

Please print-out this page and put it somewhere that you can access it if needed. Remember if an emergency occurs you will be contacted by either your T/TA Provider or an ANA Program Specialist.
