Welcome to Project SHINE at Cal State Fullerton

Project SHINE is a national service-learning initiative that builds partnerships among community colleges, universities and community-based organizations to benefit older immigrants, refugees and college students.

Project SHINE links college students with immigrants over the age of 50 who seek to learn English as a second language, increase their participation in the community and/or wish to become U.S. citizens. As part of a service-learning course or as volunteers, the college students are linked to elder learners that take ESL and Citizenship courses at different community sites.
