Resources for Individuals

While HUD does not offer direct grants or loans to individuals, we do work through local governments and non-profit organizations to make financial assistance and counseling available. Try these resources:

 -   Housing Counseling
 -   The American Dream Downpayment Act - Program expected to start in Spring 2004
 -   Local Homebuyer Programs
 -   Low Downpayment Information
 -   Home Improvement Help
 -   Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8)
 -   Mortgage Programs
 -   Help for fixing up your neighborhood
 -   Contact your local government for help
 -   Starting your own business

To participate in the HUD grants program, you need to be registered with Grants.gov.
 -   2009 Early Registration Notice
 -   Learn how to register
 -   Find and apply for grant opportunities
 -   Get help in completing your application

If you are a Dial-Up Internet User and experience problems viewing or downloading the brochures or deskguide, contact HUD's Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) Information Center, Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time at 800-483-8929 for a hard copy of the document(s).

HUD awards grants to organizations and groups for a variety of purposes. On this page, you can find:

 -   HUD's grants office - the Office of Departmental Grants Management and Oversight (ODGMO) was established to develop a Department-wide perspective on grants management
 -   Funds available - notices that tell you when grant funds are available and how you can apply
 -   Code of Conduct
 -   Data Universal Numbers System (DUNS)
 -   Funding announcements - list of those who were awarded grants
 -   Grants.gov - a link to a web site that lists all Federal grant programs
 -   Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Guidance - find guidance on E-Government, Streamlining Activities Under P.L. 106-107, Grants.gov formerly eGrants, HUD Final Information Quality Guidelines, and Grants Management Line of Business.
 -   Small business - a page created for small businesses. There's even a link to BusinessLaw.gov under federal resources.
 -   Grants Management and Administration
 -   Debarment Drug Free Rule
 -   The Access Board - is an independent Federal agency devoted to accessibility for people with disabilities.
