USA Freedom Corps Director Presents Awards to Orange County Rescue Mission Volunteers

Alison Young, Acting USA Freedom Corps Director joined Corporation for National and Community Service Board Member Jim Palmer to recognize outstanding volunteers who aided in the planning, building and development of the newly opened Village of Hope at Orange County Rescue Mission in Tustin, CA. Volunteers from Orange County Rescue Mission, HomeAID Orange County and the Orange County Sheriff's Office earned President's Volunteer Service Awards for their hours spent volunteering.

Take Pride in America
Extended Through 2010

On October 28, 2008, Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne signed an order extending the authorization of Take Pride in America through 2010. Take Pride in America is a national partnership program designed to encourage volunteering on public lands and promote appreciation and stewardship of public lands.

"Community Service 2008" Mobilizes Over 50,000 Volunteers for Financial Education

Community Service 2008, an annual initiative of the Financial Services Roundtable in partnership with USA Freedom Corps, completed three months of community service activities focused on financial education on September 30. Community Service 2008 unites member companies' efforts to improve the communities in which they work, and strengthens community partnerships. Over the course of three months, 90 companies hosted over 1,700 projects, which occurred in 1,223 cities across the country utilizing over 52,000 volunteers.
