National Volunteer Week, April 27-May 3 "Volunteer to Change the World"

President Bush has proclaimed April 27-May 3, 2008, National Volunteer Week. This year's theme is "Volunteer to Change the World". Volunteers for Prosperity is a presidential initiative that gives America's highly skilled professionals new opportunities to serve abroad.

Take Pride in America®
Voluntour Across America

Take Pride in America has launched the "Voluntour Across America," sponsored by Toyota. The Voluntour is a nationwide tour promoting volunteer service on public lands. Take Pride in America staff are riding in a Toyota Highlander for this Southeast leg of the trip, which will go from Texas, through the south, and up the coast to Washington, D.C., with volunteer service and recognition events held all along the way.

The President's Volunteer Service Award -
Become a Certifying Organization

Volunteer recognition is one of the most important components of effective volunteer management. The President's Volunteer Service Award is issued by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation on behalf of President Bush to recognize the best in American spirit, and to encourage all Americans to improve their communities through volunteer service and civic participation. The Award is given to individuals, families, and groups that have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and civic participation over the course of a 12-month period.

President Bush Recognizes Palm Beach Woman for Dedication to Volunteer Service

President George W. Bush presented the President's Volunteer Service Award to Cheryl Crowley upon arrival in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, March 18, 2008. Crowley is a volunteer with the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition and Read Together Palm Beach County.
