Photo:  White House photo by Paul Morse

President George W. Bush presented the President’s Volunteer Service Award to Deeneaus Polk, 19, upon arrival at the airport in Gulfport, Mississippi, on Thursday, May 11, 2006. Polk is a student and active volunteer at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. To thank them for making a difference in the lives of others, President Bush honors a local volunteer, called a USA Freedom Corps greeter, when he travels throughout the United States. President Bush has met with more than 500 individuals around the country, like Polk, since March 2002.
