President George W. Bush presented the President’s Volunteer Service Award to Yirela Alcantara upon arrival at the airport in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday, January 12, 2006. Alcantara is a volunteer and translator for Spanish-speaking parents at Jupiter Elementary School and Independence Middle School in Jupiter, Florida. To thank them for making a difference in the lives of others, President Bush has met with more than 450 individuals around the country, like Alcantara, since March 2002.
