Peace Corps Accepting Nominations for Outstanding Senior Volunteer Award

Each year, the Peace Corps recognizes an outstanding senior RPCV who demonstrates a commitment to the Peace Corps' third goal. This prestigious award is in memory of Miss Lillian Carter, who served in the Peace Corps as a senior in the 1960s.

Returned Peace Corps Volunteers who served as a senior (age 50 and older) are eligible to be nominated. Nominations for 2005 are being accepted until April 8. The designated nomination form must be emailed to:

John Eaves
Atlanta Regional Manager
Peace Corps Atlanta Regional Recruitment Office

jeaves@peacecorps.gov

The award recipient will be announced on April 15. Please note that married volunteers who served together cannot be nominated as a couple; however they can be nominated individually.

President Jimmy Carter is expected to present the award. The award recipient will receive an impressive trophy and a $1,000 cash award. The selection committee will consist of a Carter family representative, three returned Peace Corps Volunteers, a former Lillian Carter Award recipient, and one Peace Corps employee. The award recipient must be present at the ceremony to receive the award.
